What curriculum is used at TSPA?
At The Salon Professional Academy we select the best of the best training for the “hands on” learner. We start our training with Pivot Point Fundamentals and as the student advances we add in Redken 5th Avenue curriculum. All curriculum is facilitated for the hands-on, adult learner.

What is the tuition at the academy?
Our cosmetology program tuition is $21,890.00

What services will I learn throughout the program?
The Salon Professional Academy focuses on services that provide the greatest income in salons. Hair cutting, hair color, special occasion styles, manicures, pedicures, basic facials, waxing and make-up applications. The curriculum is updated based on current trends and changes in the industry.

Will I receive a license upon completion of the program?
Licensure is issued by the state of Tennessee.
Once a student completes all curriculum and a minimum of 1500 hours their information is turned over to the testing agency, PSI. Students must then take two separate tests, theory and practical. The cost for each test is $70.00. Students must pass the state board theory test before they are invited to take their state board practical.

What programs do you offer at TSPA Nashville?
We currently offer Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor classes. We currently do not offer individual programs for Esthetics or Nail Technicians at The Academy.

What are the enrollment requirements?
The Salon Professional Academy is an acceptance only school. We meet with each candidate for 45 minutes to an hour to be sure that we are a good fit and that as a future student you are serious about your career in our industry. If selected, you must have high school transcripts or equivalent, social security card, a government issued photo ID and $200.00 enrollment fee to secure your seat in a specific class.

What is the schedule? Do you offer part time classes?
The Salon Professional Academy currently offers 2 schedules for our students. The first eight (8) weeks of training are full time for each student. Tuesday –Thursday 9:00 – 5:00pm, Friday & Saturday 9:00 – 4:30pm. After the first 8 weeks a student may attend full time (34 hours a week, Tuesday through Saturday) or they may go to a flex schedule (29 hours a week). Specific flex schedules are determined when you start the program.

What is included in the student kit?
The Salon Professional Academy “Student Kit” includes everything required by the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology plus many other key items that are needed to have a successful career in our industry.
The Salon Professional Academy has partnered with Sam Villa’s company to provide you professional tools: blow dryer, flat iron, shears, texturizing shears, razor, razor blades, brushes, combs plus many other salon quality tools that will last you long into your career!

Do you provide on-campus housing?
The Salon Professional Academy does not offer on-campus housing at this time.

Do you accept financial aid? If so, do you have a financial aid counselor available to help?
Financial Aid, including direct loans, pell grants and industry scholarships are available to those who qualify. We encourage everyone to complete your online FAFSA prior to touring the academy.
Mrs. Davenport and Ms. Mann are our Financial Aid Advisors and are available to meet with student candidates Tuesday through Saturday by appointment.

Are you accredited?
The Salon Professional Academy is accredited by NACCAS, the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences, and has state authorization by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.

What manufacturers do you use?
The Salon Professional Academy is exclusively endorsed by REDKEN 5th AVENUE, which is the only haircare line we use.
For our nail program we use CND and our skin care manufacturer is Dermalogica. Currently we use Mirabella and OFRA makeup.

Will I receive personalized attention?
YES! We feel that quality education comes from individual attention so, it’s important to keep our class sizes small. Our advanced cosmetology classes have as few as five students but no more than 15, giving our students and our educators the optimum learning/teaching environment.
